Rock Me Like a Hurricane

The partners at Seattle-based Asterik Studio are inspired equally by art and music. Their clients include lots of big-name record labels—Atlantic, Capitol, Interscope, A&M, DreamWorks and RCA, to name a few. And brothers Don and Ryan Clark moonlight as members of the heavy-metal band Demon Hunter.

But don't let a tough exterior fool you. These guys aren't afraid to admit that their ultimate motivation is love—love for design, love for music and love for life.

So it's not surprising that they jumped at the chance to participate in The Hurricane Poster Project, an effort started by designers to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina by selling posters.

"It was really fun to do," says Don Clark. "I actually finished it the day we were told about it. I was really excited to work on this project."

And the judges were excited by the results. "There's something uplifting about the image after all the negativity," says judge Jenn Visocky O'Grady. Judge Steve Hartman adds, "It's got a real symmetry to it and I'm drawn to that."

The poster was screen printed by the Seattle-based Clone Press.

Designer Don Clark tucked a tiny bird of peace into the lower limbs of his "hope" tree.

As of December 2005, TheHurricanePosterProject.com included 76 limited-edition posters from designers around the world. Proceeds support the American Red Cross.
