This year’s HOW Design Live conference was without doubt the biggest and the best we’ve ever had the pleasure of hosting. The brilliant minds, the boundless inspiration, the new friends and helpful networking, the celebrations and parties—every aspect of the conference was off-the-charts incredible.
If you’ve read my recaps from Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4 of the design conference, you know all the crazy fun we’ve had this week. Each of us found our “wow” moments—and most of us found more than one! Here’s what the ever-eloquent Gary Lynch had to say about the experience as a whole:
My “wow” moments were my interactions with every person I met, the laughter in the session rooms, the applause at the end of a great presentation, the buzz in the hallways, the smiles and the happy faces. Your energy feeds our energy and your experience is our experience. There was a theme that organically grew over each of the five days and it was the emphasis on the human spirit. The sense of humanity that is important to hold onto in all of our work and in each of our day-to-day lives. Design elevates that sensibility and connects all of us. It is a global language that you create and a powerful gift that you possess.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! As we wound down from all of the excitement, many designers had to journey home. Fortunately, for those of us who stayed, Friday was filled with some exceptional keynote speakers. Here are some of the best moments from Day 5: First of all, let’s just reiterate that we more than DOUBLED our goal for Wheels for Water.
Next, we heard from Michael Hendrix of IDEO.

Thank you to all speakers, organizers and attendees for elevating the HOW Design Live experience! See you next year in Atlanta!
And finally, here’s a big old hug from HOW to you (illustration by the exceptional Ken Lo):
