These HOW Design Live Speakers Take the Stage (Again!)

Talk to the HOW Design Live programming team (including partners Debbie Millman, Ilise Benun, Ed Roberts, Andy Brenits, Andrew Gibbs) and you’ll understand that assembling the agenda for seven different programs under one event umbrella is a balancing act. It’s all about creating the right mix of information plus inspiration, current topics plus timeless ones, new speakers plus returning favorites.

Inspiration wall 2

Browse the lineup of HOW Design Live speakers for 2016 and you’ll see a few familiar faces, speakers who’ve earned a reputation (and repeat invitations) for delivering engaging, inspiring and just plain helpful presentations. Speakers like these:

Von Glitschka — A humble guy and super-talented illustrator who wowed crowds from his very first HOW presentation. Glitschka is generous in sharing his techniques, processes and business advice.

Stefan Mumaw — Prolific speaker and repeat HOW Books author (Caffeine for the Creative Mind is on many a designer’s bookshelf). Don’t miss his HOW Connection session on the very first day in Atlanta.

Sam Harrison — Another longtime HOW collaborator, with several books (IdeaSelling) and HOW magazine articles under his belt. Harrison understands the hows and whys of creativity like no one else.

Justin Ahrens — Need some encouragement to use your talents for greater good? Ahrens is your guy. At last year’s HOW Design Live in Chicago, Ahrens prompted attendees to ride a stationery bike to raise money for clean water projects in Africa.

Tiffany Shlain — Last time HOW came to Atlanta, in 2007, Shlain delivered a compelling keynote presentation. An early advocate for excellent design and UX on the web, she’s gone on to a remarkable range of multimedia projects.

Katie Lane — No one delivers hard-hitting business advice like Lane does; you’ll totally change your practices, gain the confidence to run your creative business and collaborate more effectively with clients and colleagues.

Jim Krause — Krause is known for getting sending HOW attendees out on a creative exploration. He’s a prolific HOW Books author and incredibly generous collaborator. Bring your camera (DSLR or smartphone) and get ready to take beautiful images.

Patrick McNeil — A true educator, McNeil is passionate about teaching designers how to think about, collaborate on and seek excellence in interactive design. Gain a semester’s worth of information in a single session.

Stefan Sagmeister — Few top designers have influenced our industry and the way we operate like Sagmeister. In addition to that impressive body of work, he’s responsible for inspiring designers to feed their creative minds.

Ilise Benun and Debbie Millman — These two capable, connected, creative women are instrumental behind the scenes in planning the HOW Design Live program. Catch them in Atlanta and thank them for their contributions!

Also among the returnees: Aaron Draplin, Chip Kidd, James Victore, Danny Gregory, Bill Gardner, Shelley Gruendler, Andy Epstein, Tim Cox and others.
