In my free webcast this Thursday (Jan 12 at 3 PM ET but you’ll get the recording if you can’t make it live), I’ll be giving my annual marketing “pep talk” and focusing especially on how creative professionals can use LinkedIn to find your best prospects.
As a little preview, here’s how one of my clients is doing it:
Michael Clark, of Providence, R.I.-based, Shelf Identity, recently went out on his own after 12 years in house at a major retailer. Now that he’s on the other side, he’s using LinkedIn to find his target market and get to know the players in the industry. That’s how he found a LinkedIn group dedicated to the specific area of his interest where he’s been initiating discussions and getting answers to his questions.
Almost all the group members that he’s invited into his network have accepted his invitation, which isn’t surprising. When they do, he makes the extra effort of calling them on the phone and opening with this line: “Hi, this is Mike Clark and we’re new LinkedIn buddies,” which usually elicits a chuckle that gets the conversation off on a positive note.
How are you using LinkedIn? And if you’re not using it as much as you know you could (or should) be, join me this Thursday for some tips.
