From about 800 Poster Design Awards entries, judge Steve Hartman chose 10 winners, using a judging system that involved several rounds to narrow the field. Here’s what he had to say about the difficult task:
- Do you want to see your work in HOW Magazine? The International Design Awards and Interactive Design Awards are now accepting entries.
“Overall, I was impressed by the posters I was given to review. In the end, I picked posters that met three criteria: What did it do for the overall brand of the organization (if applicable)? Was it something I wish I had designed? Would I hang it on my wall? I have to say that what I chose fits all three. Really nice work, all around.”
About the Judge
Steve Hartman is president and creative director of Creativille, Inc., a branding strategy and graphic design firm in Edwardsville, IL. As of April 19, Hartman is merging Creativille with the St. Louis brand communications agency Falk Harrison, where he’ll be returning as creative director after spending eight years there early in his career. Hartman has been involved in local and national leadership of AIGA, has spoken at design events and has judged numerous local, national and international design competitions.
