Your Best Work: Design Awards & Competition

HOW wants to see your best work! This  one-of-a-kind competition is designed to recognize the creative prowess of designers and design teams who have the talent to produce multiple original, boundary-pushing projects. Send us your top 5 projects from the past 2 years for a chance to be profiled in HOW’s 2013 Creativity issue.

This is your chance to prove to clients and peers that you’re no one-trick pony, and you’ve got the creative chops to do powerful work time and again! Winners will be published in HOW magazine or on HOWdesign.com.

 


THE DEADLINE-CLOSED

All entries must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. EST December 1, 2012.

THE CATEGORIES

Work should be entered in one of two categories:

  1. Freelancers/Small Firms/Small In-House Groups = teams with no more than 5 designers
  2. Large Firms/Agencies/Large In-House Groups = teams with more than 5 designers

THE PRIZES

2 Best of Show winners will each receive a 4-page feature in the May 2013 issue of HOW magazine, which is also distributed to all attendees of HOW Design Live. 10 merit winners will be included in the issue and featured on the HOW website.

All winners will receive a free Design Insider Membership, which includes a year’s subscription (or extention) to HOW magazine, as well as 3 free competition entry coupons to use in any HOW competition of your choosing. You will also receive an icon to post on your website announcing your winning status.

SUBMITTING ENTRIES

Entries must be submitted online in PDF form. The size of the file must not exceed 2MB. You may use the provided InDesign template to create your entry or you may create a template of your own, but all templates must include the required information for each of your five projects: entry title, release date, project description, creative team and client. You may use multiple pages for each project if needed.

 

 

THE DEADLINE-CLOSED

Work must have been created between January 1, 2011 and December 1, 2012. The deadline is December 1, 2012 (11:59 PM EST). Each entry is $85.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

You may pay by credit card or with a check. If paying by check, payment for entries must be postmarked by December 1, 2012. Makes checks payable (in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank) to F+W Media, Inc. If payment is not received, entries will be disqualified. Entry fees are non-refundable. One check may be used to cover multiple entries.

OTHER IMPORTANT STUFF

Winning entrants grant HOW the right to reproduce images of their work on HOW’s website and in other digital and printed materials. HOW assumes all entries are original and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted therein. HOW is not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant and will not become involved in copyright disputes. HOW will notify winners by December 31, 2012 after judging is complete.

PRIVACY PROMISE

Occasionally, we make portions of our customer list available to other companies so they may contact you about products and services that may be of interest to you. If you prefer we withhold your name, simply send a note with your name, address and the competition name to:

ENTRY FEE $85 (This includes all 5 projects. You do not pay per project.)

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Fill out the online Entry Form completely. This information will be reproduced exactly as submitted if you are selected as a winner.
  2. Credit all persons involved in the creation of the piece. HOW isn’t responsible for incorrect, illegible, or incomplete credit information.
  3. Describe the objective and results of your entry in 100 words or less, using the Project Description field in the template. (Optional but highly suggested)
  4. Upload your PDF.
  5. After you have submitted all of your entries and gone through the checkout process, you will be taken to a confirmation page that has a link for use in printing your completed forms. If you choose to pay by check you will need to print your entry forms and send them with your check.
