Give for girls to write

To celebrate her 50th, writer/speaker/old broad (and speaker at the Creative Freelancer Conference in San Diego, 2009) Colleen Wainwright (a.k.a. The Communicatrix — see lots of videos here!) is raising $50,000 in 50 days to benefit WriteGirl — with a lot of help and support from our own, Dyana Valentine.

Cool perks, tons of interviews with interesting writers, and if it all goes according to plan, a big, bald head at the end.

To find out more, visit or go directly to to contribute.

And here’s a note from Colleen:

We’ve managed to raise more than $38,000 already, thanks to a colossal word-of-mouth effort on the part of my Internet (i.e., “nerd”) friends (and a few of you who found out anyway because you are sneaky and nice like that). THIS IS AMAZING! $38K in a crap economy in the dog days of summer with Libya rightly stealing all the headlines? AMAZING.

Oh—and if we raise the whole $50K? I’m shaving my head at the culminating fundraiser celebration.
