About the face: Happy National Donut Day! And, by extension, donut week. As if we needed an excuse to eat delicious fried dough. Donut Day was created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served donuts and home-cooked meals to soldiers during World War I. It started as a fundraiser for the Chicago branch of the Salvation Army while they raised money for the needy during the Great Depression.
Anyway, to celebrate, we found the perfect typeface by Kenny LKC Design: Dozen, “a free font designed out of shared love for doughnut and type.” Dozen is perfect for titles and headlines and has a wonderful handmade look to it. We just wish it had a few more special characters to make the family bigger!
