If your work day is anything like mine, it can often feel like you’re trapped in a never-ending game of Life. Projects come in late, contributors struggle to contact sources, the templates are inconsistent and the computer is running slower than molasses. Do not pass go! Do not collect $200! Thankfully, Ryan Martin and Ryan Smoker, principals of branding firm Infantree, can relate, In fact, the Ryans have created an actual card game design to make light of the trials and tribulations that come with living the creative life.
Creative Clash is a two to four player game that takes approximately 20-45 minutes to play. In it, players strive for bragging rights while attempting to become a principal at a creative agency while slogging your way through low-cash projects that require letting go of your ego. You’ll develop skills like copywriting and illustration along the way. There’s also the challenge of wrangling other employees, including a bear named Linus who appears to have eaten the intern.
A complete labor of love, Creative Clash was an after-hours project the Ryans balanced with working full-time at their creative agency. Two board-game aficionados, the two wanted to channel their design prowess into something fun. Currently on Kickstarter, the game has 16 days to go and has amasses a little more than 25% of its $20,000 goal. Here’s what Ryan Smoker had to say about the campaign:
The game has been thoroughly play tested and about 30 out of 125 cards are illustrated and finished. We recognized the need to get Kickstarter involved so we can make a push to finish it. With the support of some great backers we’ll be able to afford the printing andfulfillment. We really can’t do it without the backing of the design and gaming communities.
