The 2014 Pantone Plus Series is here! The series includes a total of 84 new colors, all of which have been incorporated into Pantone’s latest solid color publications, formula guides and color bridges. No supplements will be offered, which brings the total number of solid colors from 1,677 to 1,761!
The last time Pantone added new colors was in 2012, when 336 colors were introduced as supplements and then appended to the back of the guides in 2013. They, along with the 84 new colors being introduced, are now integrated into the color sequencing of the guide and presented in a chromatic arrangement. That means those who bought Pantone before 2012 will now get 420 new colors in their guides!
Highlights of the new color range include Pantone 2352, which a closer match to the 2014 Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid. The 2014 Plus Series also includes blushes and pinks that are perfect for the Beauty market, as well as clean and vibrant blues, greens and violets that fill holes in the former color range.
Artist Editions feature beautiful illustrations
Another exciting feature of the new 2014 Pantone Plus Series is the Artist Edition covers, which feature vibrant, illustrative artwork. Pantone was inspired to curate the cover art for some of its most popular products from artists who shared their work on Pantone Canvas, the company’s portfolio sharing site.
The coated and uncoated Formula Guide, Solid Chips and Color Bridge will all feature Artist Edition covers.
To optimize the visual impact of the artist’s work, Pantone has laid out the artwork over seven guides, meaning that you have chance of receiving any two of the fourteen.
Pantone has also updated the covers of the pastel, neon, metallic and CMYK guides and chips books, as well as the Pantone Plus Series Starter Guide.
Incorporating the best of both analog and digital workflows, Pantone Plus is the most technologically advanced color communication system available.
The Pantone Plus Series includes mobile apps, software, wireless devices and cloud services that ensure accurate color communication, inspiration and reproduction in today’s globally connected economy. All 644 of the Pantone colors added since 2010 were formulated based on current trends and market demand.
