Planning a conference as expansive as HOW Design Live means managing a lot of moving parts. Since the initial agenda was announced in October, the program team has continued to fill time slots and finalize session topics.
In December, Paula Scher joined the program — and she has invited a number of top-notch creative pros from Europe. As president of Alliance Graphic Internationale, and as a supremely talented designer in her own right, Scher has had the opportunity to travel and meet designers outside the U.S. She will be leading a panel conversation with Anette Lenz, a German-born designer who creates fascinating posters for art and theater in her small Parisian studio; Tony Brook, the founder and creative director for London agency Spin; and Sascha Lobe, a design educator and the founding creative director of L2M3 in Frankfurt, Germany.
And Scher has recommended other keynote presenters, including Philippe Apeloig, whose independent studio creates work for Hermès, Phaidon and various cultural institutions; and Adrian Shaughnessy, the designer, educator and author known for his regular contributions to Design Observer and his role as founder of Unit Editions, which produces books on design and visual culture.
Brené Brown, Ph.D. has also joined the schedule as a keynote presenter; she’s an engaging storyteller and a dedicated researcher at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Dr. Brown has spent the past decade studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness and shame. Her 2010 TEDx Houston talk on the power of vulnerability is one of the most watched talks on TED.com. And her books “Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead” and “The Gifts of Imperfection” have been No. 1 on The New York Times Bestsellers list. She also teaches an online workshop through Oprah’s Lifeclass series.
Finally, The Dieline program at HOW Design Live has added a number of speakers, including Mary Zalla, global president of consumer brands at Landor Associates; James Sommerville, VP of design at Coca-Cola; and Ron Burrage, head of global design at The Hershey Co.
We’ve added to the lineup of speakers — will you add your presence to the event? Get your year off to a great start and register now. Early Bird rates end February 3.
