Do you have a particular area that really appeals to you, within the design / creative field? (eg designer cupcakes)

Is there anything in your area like it at the moment?

Is it something that you could do online (i.e. not selling designer cupcakes)

Only you can say what you're good at (unless you are always getting compliments for something in particular eg your homemade sauces that you could do labels for and sell, your handmade kids school thingies or whatever). Once you have your idea then you can research it in your area and further.

Think it through then go for it!

Try to think on something that does not require any hard costs. Maybe blogs for other stay-in-home moms, or create unique design themes for parties and special events, for women, children or local community gatherings. ... Anything web related has the virtue of being based on computer, and your meetings can be held at Starbucks, book stores, or family friendly places. Look for clients that relate to you in some way.

Find something you like to do that can be applied to a product, in the arts or crafts fields...

Just a thought.

The most common business idea in recent times would ultimately be about food. I mean, people just do not get enough of food and whatever recession you go through, you would still have to get food. It might not be good for those with a target geared toward to upper echelon. For other ideas, you do not always have to come up with something novel, meaning something totally new. You could improve on an existing product or service and earn from it.

I agree with bjenkins point, This is very common business in the world. Most people don't take all meals in a day because of money shortage. Hotels & restaurants charge a lot fro one time. You can open it as home business. You will save huge amount from that. Whatever the recession people go through but they won't stop eating. This is a recession proof business.

i plan to run a shop, need an name for a new shop that will be providing outdoor supplies. The brand name must be unique and must not be previously registered or have a trademark record. The english name can be a new word. do you think which one will be better? you can contact me on skype rechal.lynn
