Time to Get an Accountant?

Postby LickOfPaint » September 4th, 2012, 10:10 am

As an extra source of income I do design, blogging and a little freelance writing on the side.
So far it's all been paid into my Paypal account.
I kept meaning to get round to declaring this stuff, but time has really flown by.
By nearly 3 years to be exact!

Been speaking to SJD who deal with freelancers, but thought I'd ask here if I really need to declare this stuff yet or if there's a certain level of income I need to get to before I'm in trouble?
I'm also worried what would happen when I do declare that I've been earning an extra £100 to £200 a month for the past 3 years and what kind of penalties I'll get hit with.

Alternatively, would it make sense to have my freelance payments go to a new account, which I would then declare after a month or two as a limited company?
That way I could declare myself an upright and honest chap, while brushing the last 3 years under the carpet ;)

Any advice would be much appreciated.
