Hey guys, if you're using Dreamweaver to design a webpage, check this out. I came across these metal textures, and thought they would be great to incorporate into web designs. What do y'all think?

Hello OldHouse, I have used Dreamweaver on a Mac in the past for website maintenance, and I loved it. The split code view is awesome. Dreamweaver gives you a WYSIWYG view, but also allows you to view the code and WYSIWYG side by side. This is ideal for someone who is learning, since you can click on the object on the page and it highlights the *** code.

I also recommend www.TotalTraining.com. You can subscribe to this excellent training video site for about $25.00 a month, and you can end the subscription any time. This site gives step my step video training on almost all of the adobe software as well as some side subjects. However, http://www.lynda.com/software/185-dreamweaver will give you excellent training as well. I'm not sure of the free limits versus subscription benefits for this site, but I know that Lynda.com also has many videos on youtube.

One way to get 70% (I think) off of Adobe products is if you are a teacher or a student. So if you are thinking of taking any colleges courses, you can email a copy of your college ID to adobe and after they verify your status, you can get this discount.

Good luck to you on your job search!

Ok, to start let's correct something in your thinking...we don't want you to learn a web design program, we want you to learn HTML. Really understanding how a site works and how to fix things without relying on a certain piece of software is critical to being able to design and code websites effectively, far too many people out there are simply software operators who are building sites in Dreamweaver with zero understanding of how they actually work. This results in totally non-standards compliant sites that don't work cross-browser, load slowly, etc. It sounds like you've got some basic HTML knowledge already, refresh yourself on that then start looking at how CSS works and you'll be well on your way to building usable websites.

On the plus side there's a few really nice reasonably priced web editors (under 100 bucks) for the Mac. Coda (from Panic, the guys that make Transmit) is a really nice one that I've used some, though my current choice is Espresso. Either gives you a lot of tools to work with as well as a live preview (one that accurately displays CSS, unlike Dreamweaver) and both are reasonably priced and offer free demos.

One tool you might also find really useful is CSSedit (from the guys who make Espresso), an app that lets your browse a site and see how the CSS is applied. You can even make changes to the CSS file (locally of course) and see how that effects the site, it's a fantastic tool for understanding how CSS actually works. There's also a free demo available and there's a discount on it if you buy it with Espresso.

Hope that helps, if you're got any q's ask away.

Hi,thanks for sharing the information regarding to web design. You also described about CSS.Really very nice information is presented here.I'm looking forward to see your such useful posts.

Dreamweaver is good but as with any other editor, you need to know what you are doing if you use it in any other than code view. There are plenty of excellent editors specializing to specific scripting language such as PhP, ASP, Python etc which you'll most probably find more productive than DW if you are using any specific language.

Dreamwaver 8 is stunning. With rich css support,we can even visualise how the css properties are adopted to your site design and which property dominates a visual element.

The Adobe Dream-weaver is a web development application. That application created by Macro-media, and is now developed by Adobe Systems. It's CS5 software designers and developers to build standards-based websites.

hi all...
i think dreamweaver is one of the best...
Now a days there are many IDEs in the market which allow the users to write any type of code on them like java,vb,c++ etc.
But,i agree that dreamweaver is the simplest of all...:-)
