Hello,
here's a logo im working on in class - it's a branding logo for myself
Color Significance:
Bright Yellow - color of Oahu (where I was raised)
Magenta - color of Maui (where my family is originally from)
*actually magenta isn't the true color of Maui, it's pink. The softness of pink wouldn't translate well
so I made it a darker/deeper pinkish... magenta.
There's two main elements in this logo:
1) The top part which symbolizes the city of oahu and it's buildings - you
can also see the "J" in there. * My name's not really mikeconti.
2)The lower "A" represents myself under the city or holding up the city.
also I thought the top part could symbolize a crown maybe?
at first I left everything flat and kinda liked how things looked but it seemed to be
missing something. There were a few attempts at tweaking different parts of the
logo like:
- beveling the "A" so it's kinda raised up
- adding a few outlines to the top to signify bricks. (bricks, city, graffiti, rawness, solid)
- adding an outline over the whole logo. not too sold on this one
- changing the colors all together; I think I'm too sold on the idea of: city and color
I wanted a logo that had a strong feeling attached to it but simple; nothing too complex.
The area of design I'm into is illustrations and print work. That's another thing that was
possible for this logo - changing the buildings to pens, markers, paint brushes, etc. based
upon the area i'm working in. I tried to change it to pencils or markers but just didn't like
the way t was turning out and i felt that kinda complicated things too much.
please, if it sucks say so. i'm thinking about scrapping the altogether. thanks for your time
