There is a great place to get a general understanding for what a Photoshop Duel or Battle is - The iStock Steel Cage - You will quickly learn the rules there, which are specific to that site since it is a stock photo site.

The game play is as follows:

1. Pick a friend to battle with.
2. Decide who starts the battle.
3. Create an image that is 800x600 px in Photoshop. (in their case they must use images they find on iStockphoto.com)
4. Then email or post the .psd layered file for the other person to use (also post a jpeg for the audience).
5. Main rule is that you must create a new image from the psd file that contains elements from the other player (preferably left in place) - meaning, you need to create a completely new scene from the file you receive, by adding new things to the image. Each player also has 72 hours to answer each blow or they get disqualified.
6. In the Cage there are 5 rounds of this (each player makes up 5 images).
7 The cage has a set of referees or judges that actually give points for each image based on creativity and quality of work. Adding up the points from the judges will determine the winner of the battle.

You should go and take a quick look at what is happening there, and I hope this gives a little bit better view of what a Photoshop Ping Pong or Battle is.

I would absolutely take part in something like this here... and I actually have at iStock too!
