Need help with "Seal" Lgog

Hi Everyone, not sure if this is how the "Sand Box" is supposed to be used so let me know if I am out of line here. I have a friend who knows I know how to us AI and wanted me to make a logo for his dad's start up company. I came up with this very basic logo (attached) but am open to any creative ideas, small tips, or complete over hauls etc. He wants it to be a "Seal of Approval" type logo.
