Weird Requests

Postby EditGirl » February 16th, 2011, 8:29 am

In HOW's March 2011 issue, the In-House Issues column features stories of weird requests that corporate creatives have received from colleagues and higher-ups. These range from designing garage sale flyers for the CEO's wife, to creating a fake parking permit for the Hamptons, to painting the company's logo on the roof so the president could see it when he was flying over.

What's the weirdest work request you've ever received?

The CEO came into my office one afternoon with an urgent matter, he didn't like his photo on the About Us page on the company website and wanted it changed immediately. He had me stop what I was working on, pulled a chair up next to me and we started going through photos. After about 20 minutes of not being able to find a photo he completely liked (like the hair but not the smile, like the smile but not the shirt, like the shirt but not...) he came to the only conclusion one could come up with at a moment like this - I was to spend the rest of the day Photoshopping the perfect picture. "Take the hair from this photo and put it with that face. Perfect! Now take the shoot I'm wearing in this pic...."

Our group once had the execs *** wanting to put the executives heads on a football team for a going away party. They weren't happy when we told them we didn't have time for projects like that, so they took matters into their own hands. I happened to see a print being picked up from one ***. at the printer. It was pretty awful! She saw me, quickly grabbed it and ran off!
