As an aspiring expert of SEO I strongly recommend to optimise your website in relation to key phrases and keywords your website is mostly about. This will increase your rankings in searches, create more traffic and sales, of course providing your products and services are worth buying ;)

PPC visitors won't buy anyting from your side. It's a pointless waste of advertising money that could be spent on something more reliable than that.

I would recommend to go for SEO not for PPC because the ROI is greater than PPC when you choose SEO.
In PPC, your ad will not be displayed as soon as you stop paying the cash to the advertiser. But in SEO, it is not the case.
You just invest for one time and earn more for long time.

Aside from search engine optimization, what do you think the best marketing strategy and campaign to do to market my business? SEO may be good though, but this affected me because of several updates.

Hope to hear from you.

I think social media marketing is pretty good in terms of creating additional traffic to your website. For me social networks work quite well as they can double my traffic when I post on FB, Twitter, etc. If your website is well-designed and is offering good and cost-effective products or services, those people who visit it through social networks may become your customers, you never know. Apart from that there is e-mail marketing, but it never worked for me, don't know why, maybe it's not that effective as some people claim. There are spam filters on every e-mail account so if you send emails to people you don't know your emails will end up in spam folder anyway.
