One avenue I've thought about pursuing to find new work is joining the AIGA and various other design guilds and ***. But I'm concerned about whether they are really all that effective as a tool to find work, especially given their membership fees.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has first-hand experience at finding work (or not finding it) through the guilds and clubs. Are they a worthwhile approach to attracting new clients or should I not rely on them for that purpose?
