I'd like to hear the logic. If I can't do something creative, I'm sure I don't want to do anything at all. So hit me with what you were told. I wanna know.

Hello,

You should be well rounded - have interests beyond a very narrow scope - but a back-up career? Seems lame to me. Should other professionals have a back-up career? Should lawyers learn plumbing just in case? Or should electricians learn graphic design just in case? It may be that you aren't great at specific aspects of graphic design and it might take time to find your niche - but you need to focus on being the best designer you can - not also learning how to repair cars. If that advice was given as a criticism of some work you did - it may be that person was right - however, don't let one persons opinion slow you down.

Best of luck,

Tim

My mom told me that once. She was probably right. However, I love this job too much to listen to her.
