Is Anyone ADOBE certified?

Postby Learn2Design » January 14th, 2012, 4:15 pm

I was scowering the web to see what kind of IT certifications I need to get before looking a job after my bachelors degree and I stumbled on Adobe certifications. I have never heard of anyone telling me that they were Adobe certified Design Specialist or Web or Video Specialist. You can get Suite Certifications such as the CS 5 Design Suite Master Certification.

That's crazy stuff, I'm gonna have to get certified now, what about you?

I've seen it on a few websites of freelancers, saying that they are "Adobe certified". It sounds nice, but it doesn't mean much... It proves you know the basics of an Adobe program, but it doesn't prove you can make nice websites, good videos, good designs, etc.

If you already have a bachelor degree that also proves you've learned the basics of an Adobe program (and probably more usefull skills), so I don't think having an Adobe certificate will impress much.

If you don't have a degree or went to school for something different than the Adobe certificate is for, than it can be usefull.

Agree: it counts for squat.

It might impress a potential employer who doesn't know enough to make a judgment on the worth of your work and relies instead on your degree of software knowledge. Beyond that, Adobe certification is of no particular value that I can see. Learning how to use software is easy — it's what you do with the software that counts.
