Project Hours vs. Project Outcome

Postby fancyboom » August 2nd, 2012, 3:07 pm

Hi all!

I have a client who needs a project done at a low budget. Aside from the obvious (don't work for those who have an unreasonable budget), how would you handle the balance of staying under your allotted project hours, but spending enough time on the project to make it good. Would you spend more time than you are being paid for just to make sure the outcome is worthy of your portfolio?

Thank you in advance for any input!

If they have a limited budget which means limited hours from you in order to stay within costs, then the compromise (in theory) is that you have complete creative control and they need to understand (be educated) that they only have X revisions and X input etc.

If you wish to extend your time in order to make it a showpiece then that's your call - perhaps explain that to the client as well, so they know that your extra time/input isn't the norm so they fully comprehend the value of what they are getting.
