Ram problem

Hi All,

I do print related work. This week bought a new comp (PC). I bought Intel DH55TC mother board, i5 650 processor and 8 gb of transcent Ram. I had window XP but it only showed 3.2 gb ram in the properties (had put 2 gb each in (4) slots). So upgraded from XP to Vista ...comp become very slow and still it showed 3.2 gb ram. Formatted the pc and went for Window7.

Now the properites shows 8 gb Ram (3.2 available to use) anyone has idea why it's so.

Windows XP only gives you access to 3Gb and so the other 5Gb Ram will not be availible.
best bet is to upgrade your O/S to Windows Vista or Windows 7

you should really change the 8gb ram card, since it seems it's not compatible, what brand is it?

Upgrade to another Operating System like Windows 7 or Vista.If you still face the same problem then your 8GB card should have some problem.Window XP normally allow to use maximum 4GB in 32-bit windows and 128GB in 64-bit windows.So i think there a problem with your 8GB card so check it now.

Hi all, thanks for all replies. I loaded window 7 .... same problem. in the properties it show "Ram 8 gb (3.23 usable)" i don't know what that means. I am using "Intel" mother board and "Transcent" Ram (2gbX4=8GB). I am checking with my supplier for authenticity of Ram. Thanks again.

Is your Windows 7 the 32 bit edition maybe?. Blame Microsoft.

As you said that you newly purchased new computer than it is better that you get your computer to 2QGK to your computer dealer as it is in the warranty. I think the problem must be in Memory stick or memory slot.
