10,000 Logos

We love thing-a-day creativity projects and this one is a doozy: Minnesota-based designer Nicole Meyer is creating a logo-a-day for her state’s lakes.

Lake logos have a tendency to be, well, fairly ugly. This project was created to rethink what they could be. One Minnesota Lake. One Logo. Every day. Should only take a little over 27 years to hit ’em all. Stay tuned and enjoy!

These logos are great. They’re so simple yet so well thought out and put together. My family has a cabin on Blue Water Lake and we’ve made many trips neighboring lakes. It’s awesome to see an identity for each lake and one that fits the name and location so well. Well done! I can’t wait to see the rest.

Sounds like an interesting project, and the designs are looking elegant. How have these designs been received by the MN locals? I imagine it would be a challenge to visit each lake – especially a lake a day – to learn what the lakes are really about, who uses them, and what the history of each lake is. The design research behind any logo is what really makes it beautiful, appropriate, and enduring. Foregoing such research and evaluation could make this project akin to the $99 logo market.
