If you attended the HOW Conference, you’ll recall that Quark announced a the Quark HOW 2010 Flash Design Competition to recognize outstanding Flash animation work created using QuarkXPress 8’s easy-to-use tools for creating motion graphics from your page-layout program. Designers posted their Flash projects on Quark’s ILoveDesign.com site, where other community members voted on the best entry.
And the winner is …
Su Piatt of Caution Wet Cement. Su created an animated compass-like graphic for The Piatt Group’s homepage. See the animation here. Su scores a nifty prize package, including a membership to the Design Insider program (which features subscriptions to HOW and Print magazines, plus discounts to MyDesignShop.com), the PANTONE Plus Series collection, a Pantone ColorMunki calibration tool and a VisTablet Original 12″ Silver Graphics Tablet. Not to mention the accolades from her peers at ILoveDesign.com. “Thank you to all who chose my design and animation,” she says. “I am so thrilled! I have used Quark almost since its inception and the new Flash animation scripting is awesome; I can’t wait to do more.”
Curious to know more about QuarkXPress 8’s Flash capabilities? The company’s Dan Logan did an excellent real-time demo of a fictitious project during the free DesignCast session earlier this week. Miss it? Go here to access an archived version of the Flash demonstration session (for Mac users).
