Aside from Casper, whose friendliness is underscored by the designation following his name, most people generally don’t think of ghosts as amiable creatures. Designer, stand-up comedian and writer Doogie Horner, however, took a different approach when creating “100 Ghosts: A Gallery of Harmless Haunts.”
In this humorous depiction of 100 phantoms you might see if these mystical creatures floated in and out of our everyday lives, Horner has an apparition for every occasion, including Nervous (a ghost with an appropriately knotted center), Russian Nesting Ghost (one white phantom inside another) and Muppet (a furry, funny-faced ghost).
‘100 Ghosts’ is a whimsical, haunting collection that shows ghosts, like their human counterparts, can come in all different shapes, sizes and personalities. This fun book is a delightful gift for adults, kids and anyone in need of a friendly fright.
And who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired enough to ditch the standard sheet-with-eye-holes costume and take up a different ghostly personality this Halloween.
