The F+W Media Design Community, which includes the HOW and Print brands, is proud to announce a new partnership with EPIC, the Chicago-based nonprofit that pairs talented creative professionals with worthy causes, to increase awareness of EPIC’s mission and help build the organization into a national presence.
The F+W Media Design Community, which reaches more than 500,000 creative professionals around the world, will support EPIC by increasing awareness of its services through articles in HOW and Print magazines, associated Websites and social media feeds, and by hosting a fundraiser during the annual HOW Design Live conference.
“Everyone has the responsibility, and the ability, to make a difference in our world. As a business serving a large community of creative professionals we believe we can make a difference by helping an organization like EPIC. We can increase awareness of the EPIC mission and engage the market to help fulfill that mission,” said Gary Lynch Group Publisher of the F+W Media Design Community. “We have chosen to work with EPIC simply because we think it is the right thing to do.”
“F+W Media is very active in supporting worthwhile causes and is proud to be associated with EPIC,” said David Blansfield, President F+W Media. “We’ve raised money for tsunami relief effort in Japan and provided funding support to organizations like The Goddard Riverside Community Center. The creative community is very active in social causes and we are proud to use our resources to support those efforts.”
“We’re thrilled with this partnership,”said Erin Huizenga, Founder/Executive Director of EPIC. “Since EPIC began, so many people from the creative industry have volunteered to help us help our social-service nonprofit clients. This new alignment is yet another example of our industry’s heart. Our professional community—and specifically, the HOW and Print design community—understands that, when creative thinkers and organizations pool their talent and their resources, we can make change happen in the world—and for the better.”
About F+W Media:
F+W Media, Inc. is a community-focused, content creator and marketer of products and services for enthusiasts. The Company offers a diversified portfolio of books, ebooks, magazines, events, competitions, ecommerce, education, video, and more.
EPIC (www.iamepic.org) empowers creative people to make social change happen. For our creative rallies—eight, intense, fun weeks of collaboration—we pair hand-picked volunteers from the advertising and design industries with nonprofit clients dedicated to education, children and families.
During the creative rally, each team creates programs and materials—on a strictly probono basis—that their nonprofit client will use to positively impact the lives of those they serve. The team leader—a creative director or principal designer from one of Chicago’s most sought-after shops—directs a group of creative professionals whose skill set matches a client’s specific needs.
For creatives, it’s the chance to work with other like-minded professionals across the industry—and to use their talent to create social good. For nonprofits, it’s the chance to develop the kind of world-class, strategic marketing that their missions deserve. And when nonprofits and creative people join forces, they make a bigger impact on the world than either could alone.
