Yep, we’ll admit that we’re crushing on immensely talented illustrator Chris Sickels of Red Nose Studio and the quirky characters he creates. Chris’s whimsical worlds have graced issues of HOW dating back to his first cover for the June 1999 issue. Since then, he’s illustrated countless columns and three other covers, including the brand-new September edition of HOW, which is just now mailing to subscribers. (With this issue, Chris trumps design legend David Carson in number of HOW covers: Chris has done 4; David 3.) In the issue, Chris relates a story of his encounter with a very famous illustrator, who accused him of strutting like a peacock in his own self-promotion efforts.
