We had word recently from Mark Randall of Worldstudio (who delivered an inspiring keynote to close last year’s HOW Design Conference) about a new program that he’s undertaking with Steven Heller at the School of Visual Arts this summer. Kinda makes us wish we were still students …
Randall and Heller have conspired to create a one-of-a-kind program that teaches design students about social entrepreneurship and the power that design can bring to social causes. Impact runs from July 12 through August 20 at SVA in New York.
The program will combine a series of lectures from speakers including Milton Glaser, MTV’s Jason Rzepka and Edwin Schlossberg, with an initiative that lets students conceive and execute their own projects for social change. Students will work with desigNYC, a group of local designers and advocates that connects design professionals and nonprofits in the city. The faculty includes:
Chad Boettcher, Senior Vice President, Social Innovation, Weber Shandwick
Martin Kace, founder, Empax
Bob McKinnon founder, Yellow Brick Road
Mark Randall and Andréa Pellergrino, partners, Worldstudio
