As author of The Web Designer’s Idea Book (and its upcoming sequel), Patrick McNeil knows from web design. He’s scouted the internet to find examples of smart, strategic, aesthetically pleasing sites, and he’ll be sharing those with you in Denver. If you’d like a sneak preview of Patrick’s session, catch his live DesignCast tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT; go here to register for Know Your Trends Without Being Trendy.
Patrick says he’s a web developer who happens to love design (and who spends his days working with designers), though he had childhood aspirations about becoming an architect. We recently asked him: What factor plays a bigger role in a web design project—lack of time or a small budget?
Budgets control everything. I find that all too often web projects are short changed and vast client misconceptions about how long things take are seldom properly addressed. This leads to ongoing problems with projects that go over budget and this just kills a businesses ability to turn a solid profit.
