Multidimensional Design

Stefan Sagmeister created a unique series of sculptural trophies for the recipients of the Vilcek Foundation Prizes, which recognize the contributions of immigrants in the arts and sciences. Sagmeister, a native of Austria now living and working in New York City, used stereolithography to create the pyramid-shaped forms, which include the recipient’s name. The process, typically used in engineering and manufacturing, “prints” a CAD-generated image in 3D using a liquid resin and UV laser.
