Noted Design Firm Closes Shop

If you paid ANY attention to the design annuals in the 1990s, you couldn’t miss the work of Des Moines, IA-based Sayles Graphic Design. John Sayles’ graphic, bold, stylistic work garnered much attention throughout that decade and well into this one. His business partner, Sheree, was a frequent source for HOW on marketing and biz-dev topics, and both of them made more than one appearance at the HOW Design Conference. Our June 2007 issue featured an article about John’s extensive collection of enamelware and Sheree’s collection of vintage cosmetic compacts.

After nearly 25 years running their studio, the two have shuttered Sayles Graphic Design. They’ve both found other, more meaningful callings.

Just last week, Sheree shared her impressions of the emotional and business aspects of their decision. Read about the closing of this noted design studio.
