One thing I love about fashion reports is how they spur excitement for an upcoming season, especially when that season means the end of winter (for those of you that giggled at “winter,” I’m jealous). And another is getting to preview the color choices designers have made for their upcoming collections. PANTONE has released their Fashion Color Report Spring 2014, which coincides with the New York Fashion.
Pantone’s report is something to get excited about: It includes the top 10 colors for men and women’s fashion, designer sketches, quotes and headshots. Oh, and you can download this color reference tool for free.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® provides an overview of the color choices:
This season, consumers are looking for a state of thoughtful, emotional and artistic equilibrium. While this need for stability is reflected in the composition of the palette, the inherent versatility of the individual colors allows for experimentation with new looks and color combinations.
PANTONE creates the Fashion Color Report by using the PANTONE FASHION + HOME Color System and by surveying New York Fashion Week designers (and others) to gather feedback about collection colors and color inspiration and philosophy. You can read about the color choices, what emotions and feelings they evoke and why the designers choice these colors in the report. What color will you sport this spring?
