While I love the holiday season and spending time with (most of) my relatives, that magical time of year also includes a lot of things I don’t love—namely, crowded shopping centers, low checking account figures and, most of all, gift wrapping. At 25 years old, my gift is still that one in the corner making a sore thumb fit right in. It is a white elephant gift in its packaging alone.
This is why the new brand identity design Young & Laramore created for Indianapolis-based shop Silver in the City is so dear to my heart. The new branding includes a logo design, window displays, print ads, a website and, best of all, quirky gift bags you wouldn’t be ashamed to use in lieu of wrapping paper. Each of the design elements incorporates the store’s fun personality.
The bags are printed with messages like “Gift in transit” and “Nobody has ever said, ‘Oh you shouldn’t have,’ and meant it.” Even the gift cards, which tout the saying “I may be thoughtful, but I’m not psychic,” will have your impossible-to-shop-for grandmother in high spirits. My personal favorite part of the identity is a print ad that says, “A gift of silver says, ‘I love you,’ and silently adds ‘I want to protect you from werewolves.'” Brilliant! The goal of campaign was to expand the brand to a wider audience, and Silver in the City has definitely caught my eye. Check out the rest of the campaign on Y&L’s press page.
Have you created a brand identity that would wow us like this one did? If so, we can’t wait to see it. Submit it to the HOW Logo Design Awards by July 1.
