Truth be told, I have never been one for designer fashions (not that I could afford to indulge this weakness if I were one for designer fashions, but I digress…) Show me Prada next to Payless, and I couldn’t pick the pricy option to save my life. When it comes to artsy little things like custom-made jewelry or quirky leg warmers, however, I’m your girl. Add in the opportunity to support the art and design community, and you have one kick-ass event on your hands. That is why I am so excited to announce the CityMade, A Pop-Up Shop event on April 4.
This one-day event benefits The City College of New York‘s art and design crew by featuring work from more than 70 creative types—current students, alumni and staff members alike—including Ina Saltz, Carl Fudge and more. Held at the Compton Goethals Gallery, Room 134 (at Amsterdam and 140th Street in Harlem) from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., everything from handbound books to fine art photography will be available for purchase. Add some unique items to your design collection or purchase a gift for someone special, all while enjoying collected works from the likes of Andy Warhol and Norman Rockwell. Admission is free and everyone is invited, so be sure to stop by.
