Imagine a 1982 Chevy step van converted into a fully-functional print shop. Yes, I know that It takes the words moveable type to a whole new level. To a wonderful level—one where the passion and enthusiasm of printing is shared across the country.
Letterpress printer Kyle Durrie hatched the idea to take her shop on the road for 9 months, spreading the word about letterpress printing the good old fashion way.
It all started with a realization: “Two of my favorite things in the world are printing and road trips. These two things kept getting in the way of one another in my life, though; they seemed mutually exclusive. I wanted to figure out a way to do both things at the same time,” says Durrie on the project’s website.
When there’s a will, there’s a way, and Kyle brought her dream to life, with the help of an enthusiastic response on Kickstarter (see her promo video above) and from sponsors.
Looks like the Type Truck will be on the East Coast this month. See if it’ll be stopping near your locale!
