An Epic Book of Doodles (and Free Adult Coloring Pages!)

If you’ve checked out HOW’s Fall 2016 Issue, you might have noticed that we included a delightful selection of coloring books just for graphic designers. This great roundup by the brilliant Nadja Sayej included the exciting Doodlers Anonymous Epic Coloring Book.

Doodlers Anonymous started in 2008 as a simple art blog, intended to bring exposure to “hand-drawn, low-brow, improvised art, kinda like the doodles you’d find in a sketchbook, on a napkin, torn receipt, or in-between the pages of your favorite book,” in the words of founder and author Rony Tako—better known as OKAT.

“As the visitors to the website grew, we launched a community section to allow folks to participate in drawing challenges with creative and unique prompts like our Balloon Draw or Doodle Our Wall showcase,” Tako wrote in an email with HOW. “With time, we also wanted to produce something tangible with all the great artists that inspired us everyday.”

So once a year, Doodlers Anonymous started calling for submissions. They curated the best submissions and self-published them in a 60-page adult coloring book. As the team put together six of these books, the adult coloring book trend spurred the online community’s popularity until last year, when Monacelli Press (Penguin Random House) agreed to print a “best-of” coloring book. Thus, the Doodlers Anonymous Epic Coloring Book, featuring the work of 90 artists from around the globe.

But there’s more in store for Doodlers Anonymous too: “This month we finally added the most-requested feature by our community,” Tako said, “and that’s the ability to upload their own art to our curated galleries. Now you can upload anything from your daily sketchbook pages to street art murals to your favorite hand-drawn type.”

And even better: HOW is thrilled that Doodlers Anonymous has sent us three awesome coloring pages from the Epic Coloring Book to share with our readers! Check them out and download them below:
