Booked Up: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni

I recommend The Five Dysfunctions Of A Team for any in-house designer who has to work in groups and deal with corporate politics and turf wars (that’s pretty much everyone).

Patrick Lencioni engagingly lays out the hurdles we all face when working with our peers in a corporate setting and how best to address those challenges. He accomplishes this by setting up a fictitious scenario that reads more like a novel than a management tome. The recommendations are practical and actionable, so you’ll finish the book with real world tactics to improve the ways in which you navigate your relationships with others and to set you, your team and your company up for success.

I just wanted to leave a note saying that I’m thoroughly enjoying these posts. Thanks for all the thought and effort in making them great! and pertinent to in-house designers (it is very different than working at a design firm or freelance!).

Definitely worth the read. I initially read this book a few years back as part of a leadership team outside the realm of work/design … but I’ve pushed this link to some of my peers here at work.

And it’s a quick, engaging read.
