The weather is gorgeous here in central Jersey – blue skies, white puffy clouds, a sweet cool breeze – a perfect counterpoint to my day at the office. We’re behind on key projects, a difficult colleague is being more difficult than usual and several members of the team, including me, are popping blood vessels. A freelancer we’re working with is having a hissy fit over another project that’s behind schedule and pushing back on the previously agreed to deadline. All of this is nothing I’m sure you haven’t gone through at one time or another.
The point? I guess it’s that these days make the perfect days even sweeter and are also a chance for me to exercise my discipline, management skills and humanity. Like the Dire Straits song, “The Bug”, says:
“Well it’s a strange old game, you learn it slow
One step forward then it’s back to go
You’re standing on the throttle, you’re standing on the brakes
In the groove till you make a mistake”
