Inspiration Wednesday: Typographer Gail Anderson

Roberts_Post QuoteI find that when people say they want to keep it ‘clean,’ more often than not they’re just a little afraid of taking a chance.—Gail Anderson

Gail Anderson is an award-winning typographer, designer, writer and inspiration to students who have taken her “Just Type” course at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Anderson has designed some of the most memorable layouts for Rolling Stone magazine and theater posters for Broadway and institutional theater. She recently co-authored with Steven Heller the New Modernist Type, a book about simplicity’s impact on contemporary design.

In-house designers, look at your work from a fresh, new perspective. Push the boundaries of “clean” by taking a daring leap with your typographic solutions. Take a chance. Be inspired by former in-house designer and AIGA Medalist Gail Anderson.
