It’s not just what you know… InHOWse Managers Conference 2013

As the saying goes, it’s not just what you know, but who you know.

At the HOW design conference series last year in Boston,  the InHOWse Managers conference was running right next door to the Creative Freelancer’s Conference.

As Ilise Benun recalls, ”… some of the in-house managers snuck over and asked me if I could recommend any freelancers. I was standing in a room of 450 freelancers and she wanted me to point out a few she could work with! Of course, I couldn’t do that so I made an announcement to the group and provided her email address to anyone who wanted to reach out — and many did!”

The planners of this years HOW conference have taken this as a cue, and one of the major efforts will be to bring the two groups together: the in-house managers who need freelancers, and the freelancers themselves.

So if you’re an in-house creative department manager looking for some contract help, there will be plenty of ways to connect with freelancers this year.

Day One: Matchmaking Happy Hour with CFC/IHMC attendees.
HOW will bring everyone into the same room to network and get to know each other.

Trade Show Style Tables @ Happy Hour
At that Happy Hour freelancers will have a place to show their portfolio while InHOWse Managers check out their work.

Day Two: CFC/IHMC Breakfast Roundtables.
Again, you’ll have a chance to connect with more feelancers or talk a bit more with the ones you met the night before.

I happen to think this is a great idea for those of us in-house managers, who are “resource challenged”, and looking for a way to meet dependable, creative, and business-savvy freelance help.

Register now for the IHMC or HOW Design Live so you can take advantage of this great opportunity to meet with TONS of freelance talent looking to become your go-to resource for creative work.
