As a follow-up to my July 8 post, An Insider’s Guide to Getting Your Work Published, here are a few additional inside tips on getting your work featured in an industry publication:
• Let the media know of your expertise. Create a two-page PDF that includes a paragraph of background on your business, a brief list of top clients and your bio. Also include in the document images of three or four recent projects. And note any areas of expertise that you’re interested in speaking about as a source for a magazine article.
• Consider submitting an article. As a creative professional, you’re the audience for industry media. What would you like to see in an upcoming issue? Most magazines make their editorial calendars and submission guidelines available online; you can find HOW’s here. Send an article proposal containing a headline, introductory paragraph and outline.
