The use of jumbo background photos is a trend I have observed for many years. And I am certainly not the only one to talk about the topic. As such, it is always fun to spot a unique twist on a tried-and-true web pattern. In this particular design they simply reduced the square footage of the image. By pulling the image away from the top and left parts of the canvas, the site’s navigation and main logo are given more focus. In fact, the empty space around the image draws my attention quite powerfully, leading me to these elements. This is a really interesting way to shape the users actions and restore a sense of hierarchy to the design.
