Site of the Day: BriAbby.com

BriAbby.com website homepage

For all the fuss that web-safe typography gets these days, it’s cool to see some super handcrafted type in a website design. One of the biggest downsides to using live type with embedded fonts is that you rely on the user’s browser to render the fonts, handle the smoothing and other typographical tasks. I know that text-as-image isn’t editable and it’s not SEO-friendly. But web designers shouldn’t forget that a nice block of text rendered with gorgeous details and perfectly presented as an image is still an option. And on this homepage for a website selling kids’ accessories, it’s a real attention-grabber—and totally appropriate to the business, too.
