Any website that abandons the standard “way things are done online” and takes a fresh approach—to design, navigation, experience, whatever—has my interest. Even more so when the results are outstanding. Let’s face it: Among e-commerce websites that sell software, there’s a pretty common formula. A brief glance at this website for Zengobi’s Curio 8 interface shows you immediately that the site’s designers and developers ditched the formula. Notably, the landing page doesn’t spell out what the product actually is; there’s a bit of mystery to the site. Although you can see the software in that full-screen photo and read the one-line description, you still don’t quite have the full details on what the software does. And that hook was enough to draw me in to learn more.
