The Webby Awards, which honors websites, interactive advertising & media, online video and mobile apps, has extended its application deadline to Jan. 27.
Along with the slinkyesque statue winners get (see image at right), the big prize is the publicity. You can see lists of past years’ winners here. There are some obvious big names and brands topping the lists, but there’s room for upstarts and radicals, too.
Entries in the Websites, Mobile & Apps, Online Film & Video and Interactive Advertising and Media (single) categories cost $295 each. Interactive Advertising and Media campaigns are $445-495. But the Personal Blog/Website, NetArt, and Weird categories in Websites and the Viral category in Online Film & Video are $150, to support up-and-comers.
The Webby crew also travels around the world giving talks. They’re going to be in NYC and DC next week:
- Jan. 11: DC — NPR
- Jan. 11: NYC — Conde Nast
- Jan. 12: DC — National Press Club
- Jan. 12: DC — Smithsonian
- Jan. 12: NYC — The BBC
