Where Google Doodles Come From

Have you seen today’s Google doodle? Jennifer Hom illustrated the animated tribute to Freddie Mercury that’s set to the song “Don’t Stop Me Now” and incorporates many visual references to Queen and its lead singer, who would’ve been 65 years old today. It’s a pretty epic 1.5 minutes:

NBC’s Bay Area affiliate reports the development of the doodle took about three months. Mashable answers the question: Where do Google doodles come from? with a condensed history of the images. Fun fact: The first Google doodle was a kind of out-of-office message for when Larry and Sergey went to Burning Man. If you just got back from the playa and realized you can’t pay rent with hugs, Google is hiring a doodle project manager.
